THALLO PASS WICH CONNECT CHITRAL TO KUMRAT VALLEY VIA SHAHZUR VALLEY

 Thallo Pass- which connects Kumrat with Chitral 

Thallo Pass is a historic passage that connects Upper Panjkora and Kohistan Dir (Kumrat Valley) with Chitral. This pass has been traversed by the Dardic tribe for centuries. The route is renowned for its stunning landscapes, including vast green meadows, grazing grounds, lakes, waterfalls, and large glaciers. Notable grazing grounds along this route include Ezgallo Banda, Ghorshai Banda, and Shahzor Banda. Some of the famous lakes are Shahzor Lake, Zaigi Chatt Lake, Thallo Lake, Kak Lake, and Kool Lake. In addition, you will encounter large glaciers, such as the Thallo Glacier.

 Local elders mention that the Kohistan Dir section of Kumrat is particularly rich in wildflowers. This area, from Dojanga to Shahzor Banda, especially around Ghorshai Banda and Shahzor Banda, is known for its colorful floral displays. The primary reason for this abundance is that livestock only reaches this region at the end of summer, giving wildflowers ample time to grow and bloom. Once the livestock arrives, many of the flowers are consumed. However, in the more remote areas, these vibrant flowers continue to bloom until the severe cold sets in.

For centuries, the Dardic tribe, settled on both sides of the pass, has utilized this 1,400-foot-high route to connect their communities. Historically, during attacks on Dir Kohistan, Thallo Pass served as an escape route for the residents.
