DIR NAWAB OLD TRANSPORT SYSTEM

The Nawab of Dir  postal bus service or Nawabi transport service began regularly in 1932. It became famous as the “postal buses” due to their distribution of mail during the old times. One bus would come from Bara ( Presently Samarbagh)  towards Warsak and returned in the evening. Meanwhile, two buses would start traveling in opposite directions on the national highway in the morning. They would cross each other around Rabat in the afternoon and reach their destinations after sunset. This means both buses would complete a one-way journey throughout the day.

On the bus floor, there were average seats, and on the berths, VIP passengers would sit. On the roof, passengers would sit with their feet hanging on both sides. When these places were filled up, people would grab onto the rails and travel hanging.

The driver's name of the bus was Shabir Ustad. During the summer season, while traveling, he would stop the vehicle for a nap and rest at Talash Lower Dir, leaving the poor passengers waiting outside. After resting, Shabir Ustad would start the journey again. Due to fatigue, the driver would often get angry and scold, while the helper would massage him and do other chores, and he wouldn't even talk to anyone.
